Cisdem Data Recovery was one of the few that actually felt built for normal Mac users instead of technicians. The scan was straightforward, the previews worked properly, and the recovered files opened without issues. Honestly, it just worked, which is surprisingly rare in this category. The scan itself took some time because the drive was large, but the recovery quality was excellent.

It worked perfectly to restore a lost client project folder for me. The preview feature was a lifesaver for confirming files. I'm giving 4.5 because loading a previous scan was much slower than expected. Despite that, it got the job done.

Not a person who usually writes reviews, but Cisdem deserves one. I deleted some important photos from my Canon camera's SD card, and tried several solutions with no luck. When I ran Cisdem on my Mac and started the scanning, it quickly located the lost photos, and the ability to preview gave me the confidence that they were intact.
The interface is clean, modern, and the recovery is a simple one-click affair.
By the way, the download link has expired, so I downloaded it from the developer's site on this page. Don't know why, but it is a safe and good experience for me.

I mistakenly deleted a folder that has 8GB photos on my Toshiba hard drive, I thought I've backed up those photos to my Mac, but I didn't. All of the family photos on our trip to Paris were gone, you can imagine how desperate I were then. I searched in Google and decided to give Cisdem a try, though there were good and bad reviews about this app. Thank god, it recovered about 90% of the lost photos, in my opinion, the sooner you take actions, the more files you will get back. But there is a thing: it doesn't show all file names correctly, some are right, some are not, so you'd better use the icon view mode.
